Trigger Warning: Big Fat Heretic, you may not want to read this topic; and you may not want to read the online article to which I've posted a link below. Use your own judgment or whatever you prefer.

I just read the online article whose title I've chosen for my topic in this forum. Although I don't agree with all of their editorial views, the Good Men Project website is a good source of helpful and interesting articles. This particular article is a hard read. It does start off by touching upon the Steubenville scandal, but I've called attention to the article in a topic of its own because it deals with a broad issue that covers a lot more than the scandal. It's way too long for me to copy and paste it in its entirety, and I don't know how to copy and paste the particular images that are displayed in it. At least I don't have the time to go to all the trouble that is necessary in order to post them, if that's even possible. But I have copied and pasted the first part of it below (minus the images and the notorious Michael Nodianos video, of course). I recommend you click on the link so you can read the entire article for yourself. Even the first part, which I've copied and pasted below, has about a dozen hidden links. Like I said, it's a great article. You also might want to read the comments that follow the OP. Like I said, it's a hard read. But it's extremely relevant, and it deals with an aspect of society that shows how sick our society is. Crying or Very sad

Someone asked me today, “What is ‘rape culture’ anyway? I’m tired of hearing about it.”

Yeah, I hear ya. I’m tired of talking about it. But I’m going to keep talking about it because people like you keep asking that question.

Rape culture is when a group of athletes rape a young girl, and though there are dozens of witnesses, no one says, “Stop.”

Rape culture is when a group of athletes rape a young girl, and though there are dozens of witnesses, they can’t get anyone to come forward.

Rape culture is when a group of athletes rape a young girl, and adults are informed of it, but no consequences are doled out because the boys “said nothing happened.”

Rape culture is when a group of athletes rape a young girl, and we later find out that their coaches were “joking about it” and “took care of it.”

Rape culture is when a group of athletes rape a young girl, and even though there is documentation of the coaching staff sweeping it under the rug, they get to keep their jobs.

Rape culture is when a group of athletes rape a young girl, and one of the coaches involved in the cover-up threatens a reporter - saying, “You’re going to get yours. And if you don’t get yours, somebody close to you will.” – but the town is more worried about keeping their coaching talent than his integrity.

Rape culture is when a group of athletes rape a young girl, take pictures of the process, and it becomes a source of ridicule along social networks, whitewashing the crime with hashtags.

Rape culture is when a group of athletes rape a young girl, and then joke about it on video – saying, “She is so raped,” “They raped her quicker than Mike Tyson!”, “They raped her more than the Duke lacrosse team!”, and she was “deader than Trayvon Martin.” – while everyone else laughs. (Warning: this video will make you sick to your stomach.)

Rape culture is when a group of athletes rape a young girl, and the town is more concerned with preserving their football program than the fact that their children are attacking others without remorse.

Rape culture is when a group of athletes rape a young girl, and the mainstream media laments the fact that their “promising futures” have been dashed by their crimes – as though THEY are the victims.

Rape culture is when a group of athletes rape a young girl, and even though she’s been through enough, the 16 year old victim’s name is shared on national television.

Rape culture is when a group of athletes rape a young girl, but because it happens at a party where both sexes were drinking, complete strangers on the internet argue ferociously that she is to blame for being attacked.

Rape culture is when a group of athletes rape a young girl, and members of the community issue death threats against the victim.

***
Rape culture is when a group of athletes rape a young girl, and it is documented across social media channels, and the media informs us that the takeaway is to be more careful about what we post to social media.

Rape culture is when a group of athletes rape a young girl, and when a cover-up is exposed by a group of hackers, we call them “terrorists” and the culpable “victims.”

Yeah, I’m talking about Steubenville. Tired of hearing about it? Ok, let’s talk about something else.

Rape culture is when the Steubenville is far from the first instance of athletic clubs covering up sexual violence allegations. See: Sandusky, Michigan State 2010, Arizona State 2008, University of Colarado 2006, University of Iowa 2008, Lincoln High School 2012, University of Montana 2012, Marquette 2011, plus this research (and there’s more to find if you dig)

So You're Tired of Hearing About "Rape Culture"? Empty Re: So You're Tired of Hearing About "Rape Culture"?

Post by Big Fat Heretic Fri Mar 22, 2013 9:51 am

Hello Earl

It's way after 3:30 AM as in posting this topic.

Yes, I did click on the link to the web site, and I as overwhelmed by all the graphic images, and the images of web pages with their on line comments.

It made me sick. I couldn't read the whole thing. It was triggering, and I'll probably have nightmares.

Anyway . . . . .

I've been up late tonight, signing all kinds of petitions on line, many of them concerning the rape of teenage girls by high school football players, and also, about how the NEWS media has been handling these cases.

I have signed many petitions against CNN and especially FOX NEWS as well as those concerning what's going on in our high schools and colleges.

So You're Tired of Hearing About "Rape Culture"? UV_RapeCulture_V4_zpsf142729b

Yeah! The above graphic says it all.

It's disgusting!

Less than half of all rapes are actually reported. That's probably because the victims know they will be harassed. Yeah, the second rape!

Only about 3% percent of rapist even go to jail.

The rate of college campus rapes has not changed in 20 years! It's still that same! Nothing is ever done about it!

Only about 2 to 8 percent of rape charges might be false, but some students believe that up to 50% percent of rape charges are fabricated.

In 31 states, convicted rapist can sue for custody and visitations right!

And finally, my all time favorite, many politicians believe that a women can't get pregnant from rape.

Yeah! We can thank the Republicans for helping to perpetuate the rape culture in America,

The fact is, 32,000 women get pregnant from rape in the USA every year!

Oh! But if you think the USA is bad! In many countries, especially in the Arab and Islamic nations, it's even worse!

While signing so many petitions tonight, I read of a case were a young teenage girl was beaten and raped by her own father! I forget which country, because I have been up late signing so many petitions.

Anyway, the court found her guilty of having premarital sex, and she got 100 lashes with a whip!

SHE WAS RAPED, DAMN IT!!!

So, not only does the USA have a rape culture, but it's world wide.

Planet Earth should be renamed, The Rape Planet!
