I hate sports but can't be arsed to re-type why so I will copy/paste what I wrote on the confusingly similar logoed Sports Suck forum.



Sports people are so childish. So what if you can put that ball in that place? Who cares how far you can throw a thing? Running around the place trying to achieve totally random and MADE UP things and being all pleased with yourselves when you've done the thing.
So what?
I just put a coffee mug onto a magazine. Yay! Go me! I'm so pleased.
Has anyone else ever done a thing? Yeah, we all have. Why are sporting activities lauded above any other activity?????? They are childish. They are also big-heads. They all want people to stand around and watch them do the pointless and childish thing and then to cheer when they do one particular aspect of that thing. Big heads. They call themselves childish and big-headed names like 'champion' of this, or the best at that. Then the childish bigheads want medals ffs. A medal. In this day and age? A medal for running round in a circle or whatever.
All sports people- "Give me a medal and call me a champion for putting a ball somewhere or I will get all sad and depressed"
Me- "Oh just fuck off"

I can easily relate to your message -- which, by the way, I had read previously during one of my visits to Ray's website.  I've never had an interest in sports.  I paid a price for my lack of interest as I was growing up.  I still remember a particular incident when I was about five years old that involved a violent local sociopath who was about my age.  He once ridiculed me for not being able to run as fast as he could.  I remember my feelings getting hurt, but I also remember thinking Why is this important?

The creep once hit me on the head with a lead pipe without provocation, leaving a small permanent scar that isn't readily noticed.  What's funny is that since I've been working out for about seven years, I'm probably in far better shape than he is today (assuming he's still alive, which may be doubtful).  And, yes, I could probably outrun him.

The question of 'why is this important' is key. It leads to a myriad of other questions, and none of the answers are fully satisfactory. If I had the power to change things I would make those incidents you experienced at an early age 'disappear' as I really do not like bullies. I hope you don't dwell too much on those events as that's what they want. It's all about psychological domination of others, as it is in sport(s). That's just bad.

I really appreciate your empathy, but there’s no problem.  Most of the bullying I experienced in my preteens was apparently traumatic enough for my mind to erase it from my memory.  I know about this because my sister, who is seven years older than I, remembers.  But there’s no need to be concerned.  I hardly think about it.  I’m far more preoccupied with concerns of the here and now.  Besides, I know of guys who were bullied to a considerably greater degree than I was.  Comparatively speaking, I had it easy.

One of the reasons why sports have been considered to be important is because they’ve been used as a yardstick of masculinity.  When I was a boy, some mental health “experts” and other adults considered a lack of interest in sports in a boy to be a sign of homosexual tendency.  Of course, as most people should know by now, there is no correlation between homosexuality and sports one way or the other.  There have always been homosexuals in rough contact sports, not to mention in just about every other field of human endeavor.  And as I’ve said elsewhere many times, there have been men of great courage who were never interested in sports as they were growing up.

I’m a bit tired now.  I’ll have more to say later.
