The above image is a still shot from "The Card," an episode from the first Twilight Zone revival series.

The devil, they say, having so far, failed to destroy the human race with nuclear weapons, toxic waste, or elevator music, has finally devised his most cunning weapon: long term credit, with fine print written...in the Twilight Zone.

OH man good movies AND you've provided the popcorn? Count me in!

I hope you enjoy my selections, or at least some of them.  Of course, my preferences may not be quite the same as yours.  I loved monsters when I was a kid, and still do.  I've also been a lifelong fan of the original Twilight Zone series since many of its episodes are morality tales.  Incidentally, there is a widespread misconception that Rod Serling's creation was intended to always be scary.  That never was his intention.  Some of the episodes are heartwarming, others are sad, and a few are funny.

Either you or anyone else is welcome to post any selection of his/her own choosing.  Needless to say, it can be of another genre.  This topic isn't my private property.  I'm only trying to provide a little entertainment to the members and visitors of this forum.

Thanks Earl!

You're welcome. It's my pleasure.  Smile

I may head on over to the jukebox later too

Both the cinema and the jukebox are intended to be long-term projects.  What I've posted tonight is just the beginning.

Hey, I've just come across a real gem at You Tube!  I think you'll really enjoy this one!  Hopefully, you haven't seen it already.

Truly one of the finest episodes of any TV series.  This episode of the Thriller anthology series, which aired during the 1960–61 and 1961–62 seasons, stars a pre-Star Trek William Shatner.  Scripted by the late Robert Bloch, the prolific writer of horror fiction who created the character Norman Bates.  Chilling score composed by Jerry Goldsmith.  Hosted by Boris Karloff.

Season 1, Episode 37
(Original air date:  June 13, 1961)

I love You Tube!  This particular Thriller episode wasn't available at You Tube until about two weeks ago.

"The Cheaters" is an adaptation of a classic Robert Bloch short story.  One of my all-time favorites!  Unforgettable characters!  I've always remembered this episode ever since I saw it as a ten-year-old in 1960.

This excellent Twilight Zone episode is not scary at all.  It's funny.  See what happens to Rod at the end.   Laughing

Unfortunately, this episode is not available at You Tube.  At least in an undistorted condition.  So, I've had to post a link to Hulu instead.  But it's worth it!

Here's an episode of the horror anthology series Monsters that Romo will really like!  Smile   And how do I know that? Because it stars Ed Marinaro, a former professional football player who took up acting.  His character is a playboy who has a secret admirer.  One who is a lot closer than he realizes. . . .

Re: Earl's Cinema

Post by Big Fat Heretic on Sun Feb 15, 2015 11:24 am

Good morning Earl:

Well, I was up most of the night, and I just got done watching the Quatermass Xperiment.

I tried watching the video on the website, the audio played OK, but the video kept pausing.

So, I had to download the video, and save it to my computer.

Then I tried playing it with my RealPlayer. The video played fine, but there was no audio.

So, I tried my Windows Media Player, and it played both the video and the audio just fine.

The video is in the BluRay format instead of the MP4 format like most YouTube videos.

I think I can convert the BluRay format to MP4, and I could upload it to my own YouTube channel.

But, I might run into copyright issues and of course, on my YouTube account, I can't upload videos longer than 15 minutes unless I can upgrade my account.

Oh well, At least I can download and save videos to my computer when I have a problem playing them on a website.

I have saved over a hundred YouTube videos by downloading them to my computer.

That's how I'm able to watch all 13 episodes of Carl Sagan's COSMOS.

It's a good thing I did, because eventually, those videos were blocked for YouTube viewers in the USA.

Yeah! CENSORSHIP!!!

So, I'm glad I saved them to my computer before that happened.

Anyway, that was a pretty good ol' movie from the 1950s

Loved it! Thanks!

Re: Earl's Cinema

Post by Earl on Tue Feb 17, 2015 6:47 am

Sorry I haven't responded sooner.  Sometimes I just don't have the time, and sometimes I just feel too depressed or tired to post.

I'm delighted you enjoyed The Quatermass Xperiment.  I saw it on TV in 1965 once or twice.  The viewing of the rocket's film record by the investigative crew was nicely chilling.  I enjoyed the acting of the doomed astronaut as he remained comatose, but would show signs of definite interest whenever a plant was brought into the room.

I'm glad that you make allowances for sci-fi movies that were filmed long before the invention of the microchip -- which, as every schoolchild knows, has made possible all the splendid special effects we now take for granted.  After all, special effects alone do not a good movie make.  I once saw a movie on cable about an interplanetary cop who was tracking down another alien life form that resembled slugs and was possessing humans to commit various acts of crime and other mischief.  Sounds like a great idea for a movie, doesn't it?  (Yes, it certainly does.)  Well, this movie left me cold because the dialogue and the acting left much to be desired.  The special effects were great, but they didn't carry the show.  I wouldn't watch it again.

Anyway, I shall be posting more videos.  I hope you like some of them as well.
