Hi guys, let me introduce myself to this forum

First and foremost, I'd like to introduce myself as a sports fan. I have browsed your forums, and would like to engage in conversation with you about sports and sports culture. Even though you have the banner that says you are dedicated to the eradication of sports, something tells me that you aren't truly for that. I really, really hope none of you are dedicated to eradicating something that brings joy to a lot of people. I guess we can get a bit more into that. I just hope I don't overstep my boundaries, as I see you have moderators that ban people with dissenting opinions.

I also see that politics is a huge part of this forum. In case many of you are wondering, I consider myself a moderate Republican. On most social issues do actually tend to lean a little left, but I'm definitely firmly Conservative when it comes to economic issues. If you wish to engage with me on this, I'm always open for a debate.

If you have any other questions for me or want to get to know me better, feel free to shoot me over a message. I would love to hear from you all

My deepest apologies, GodhandRomo!  I just now noticed this OP of yours.  I hadn't noticed it before.  I should add that my reply to your other post was based on complete ignorance of your own position.  In other words, I hadn't read your OP above.

I appreciate your civility.  

The logo to which you refer has been borrowed from another website ( www.sportssuck.org ) that once had a forum.  A forum that no longer exists because the creator and site admin went crazy and deleted the entire forum, banning me and Skul as well.  (For background info, please read https://ihatesports.forumotion.com/t139-prequel-to-the-ray-saga-how-it-all-began )

We are not "dedicated to the eradication of sports" if only because there is absolutely no way that could ever happen.  It's an impossibility.  You might as well wish that all zoos and museums would disappear.  Speaking for myself, the thought never crossed my mind before I discovered the website mentioned above.  Sports will always be around.

Skul is the admin, and I'm the only moderator.  As long as the Forum Rules are observed, dissenting views are tolerated.

Although all the political OPs do not support the Republican Party, this forum does not have an ideological inclination.  Incidentally, Ray Parker (the creator of the website mentioned above) is a Tea Party Republican.  Whether one is a sports fan or not has absolutely nothing to do with politics.

I'm not a bigot when it comes to relating to others whose political views may differ from mine.  When Mrs. Earl and I got married decades ago, I was a liberal Democrat; and she was a moderate Republican.  (We're now dissatisfied with both parties.)  I used to joke that we had a "mixed marriage."

I get my information from the NSF National Science Foundation, and Union of Concerned Scientists when it comes to environment and climate issues such as pollution and global warming, which is a FACT!!!

When it comes to political, educational, and social issues, I get my information from TFN Texas Freedom Network, AU Americans United for Separation of Church and State, and PFAW People For the American Way, and Secular Coalition.

GodhandRomo hasn't stated what his religious views are.  True, his username contains the word "God"; but that doesn't necessarily prove anything.  You're making an assumption on the fact that the religious right is part of the Republican coalition.  The religious right has been said to include Catholics, yet they don't believe the Genesis account of creation.  Besides, there are more than a few right-wingers whose political inclinations have nothing to do with religion.  Stereotypes sometimes don't serve as good arguments.

In the second to the last sentence, I wrote "politics." I meant "religion."

Thanks Earl. The truth is, is that even though I'm a Republican, I shun away from religious fanatics. I'm not religious at all, haven't stepped inside a church for over 10 years (outside funeral services). Even though I'm not religious, these edgy atheists, such as Big Fat Heretic, cause more damage than the religious fundamentalists.

And Big Fat Heretic, suuuuure you had friends over. If you have friends, then I am a 6'4", 220 lbs of all muscle, have a six pack and great pecs, have a sexy face, have a 10/10 Victoria's Secret supermodel girlfriend, I graduated top of my class in Harvard, I make 500k a year with the business that I own, and I have a mansion (forget the price), and I have a Maserati that does 185.

Okay.  

Well, I don't know if I'd consider myself to be the leader of this forum.  To begin with, it's currently very few in number.  Just you, BFH, Skul, me, and Brigan.  I'm just the sole moderator.

I'm a 64-year-old guy, but I look 10-plus years younger.  Been happily married for over 30 years to the same woman.  Proud father of two daughters (both married now).  Both of them are better human beings than I was at their ages.

As I was growing up, I never had any desire to participate in any sport as a player or a spectator.  (More about that later, perhaps.)  At the age of 57, I joined a local health club and started pumping iron.  I'm still working out and have spent a small fortune on personal trainers.  I have proven in my own life what a fraud mandatory P.E. was (not to mention their big lie that they were concerned about the physical health of nonathletic students).  Despite my complete lack of interest in sports when I was a kid, I still suffered from very low body self-image.

I'm a big fan of the original Twilight Zone and Outer Limits series (first season mostly) although I like the revival series as well.    Mystery Science Theater 3000 is a hoot!    It's been an Earl family favorite.

(Incidentally, I got my username name from a former NFL player of all people:  Earl Campbell!  I'm surprised such an admission hasn't gotten me banned!   )

My political leanings?  I'd consider myself to be an early 1960s liberal, but that time has passed and politics have changed.  I'm pro-life (but not to the point of being an extremist about it) and consider same-sex marriage to be a form of social insanity.  I grew up under Jim Crow and had at least a partial glimpse of just how evil it was.  I have noticed which political faction supported the civil rights movement during the 1950s and the 1960s and which political movement supported Jim Crow, and my political views have been strongly influenced as a result.  I'm quite upset that the Texas State Board of Education has chosen to whitewash the history of Jim Crow in school textbooks.  I'm not the least bit surprised, though.  Of course, I realize the black community (or perhaps more appropriately "communities") are faced with very serious problems that are not the direct result of white racism.  Generally, in despair I've given up on the possibility that much good can come out of politics.

I should have said this before:  I don't look freakish, but I often don't fit in.  (As a boy I paid the price for not having an interest in sports, but so be it.)  That's because I've always been independently minded.  For example, as a 7th grader way back in the spring of 1964, I let it be known that I supported a woman for President:  Senator Margaret Chase Smith, who was running in the Republican presidential primaries.  Man, did I get hooted at by the boys in my civics class!  I'm very much a Bible believer; but I have no use for the religious right, many of whom I consider to be hypocrites.  After all, the original religious right was the Ku Klux Klan.
