I think the second to last panel is the real psychology behind the anti-union feelings among those who actually will benefit from unions.
Whether their strange assumption that they will become rich somehow (without unions), they essentially want to burn the ladder that brought them up. In this case, they somehow think that burning the ladder before they even go up it will somehow be a quick and legitimate way to go up to become the boss.
(In the Japanese case, it is a strange cartel/symbiotic relationship between the company and the company specific unions but Japan has a very, very strange way of trying to appear libertarian for the benefit of investors when they are all hand in hand, as close to socialism as they get from top to bottom)
