"Take Orders And Eat Crap" by Old Fart Rants

Published on Jan 30, 2014

Christian conservatives constantly skew facts to conform to their ideologies. And they get away with it because the people who listen to them are sheep who never learned skills in critical thinking. They just believe what they're told in their churches and on Fox News. They never question, and they never fact check anything. They hear the words America, Bible, Constitution, Declaration Of Independence, Founding Fathers, Freedom, God given rights, Jesus, Liberty, Patriotism, and family values oblivious to the fact that these words are just being used to sell bullshit and lies.

A great line from Married With Children is "women like to have affairs with married men because they're already trained to take orders and eat crap." This concept is why conservatives pander to the religious right is because they already believe bullshit and they're scared to death because they believe they're being persecuted. They know religion dulls the mind and weakens the senses which is why conservatives and evangelicals today claim to base their morality on the Bible.

That's why evangelical preacher, Fox News host and former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee's poll numbers are going up not down after he demeaned women by describing them as sluts who need government prescriptions for birth control because they can't keep their legs together. Nothing he said was true - nothing! But the Bible thumpers believe it anyway. Just because a lot of people believe something doesn't make it true.

For example: a lot of people still think Christopher Columbus discovered America which is sort of true - he did "discover" it but he wasn't the first one to do it. We know for sure from hard evidence that the Vikings were in North America long before Columbus stumbled across it looking for Asia. Yet Columbus is still credited with the discovery by many, and he even has his own federal holiday which we still observe, which is OK by me because no mail means no bills!

A lie is a lie, even if everyone believes it, and a fact is a fact, even if everyone doesn't. Even if you play along and accept that Jesus does exist, and ignore the pesky little detail that no one in history has ever produced one scrap of real evidence to validate his life as the son of God, there is no way anyone can actually read the Bible and not come to the conclusion that Jesus is overwhelmingly liberal - dedicated to helping the poor and suffering, showing mercy to the weak, refraining from judging people, treating others as you would treat yourself, calling on the wealthy to give their money to the poor, and all kinds of other liberal values that conservatives and evangelicals today call socialism or worse. So when conservatives claim to base their morality on the Bible, they're flat out lying. To be that selectively ignorant you have to ignore all that stuff about being our brother's keeper and bringing justice and mercy to the poor.

Jesus talks about mercy to those in need in 24 verses of the Gospels, he tells people not to judge others in 34 verses, he tells people to love and forgive even their enemies in 53 verses, he tells people to love their neighbors as themselves and treat others as they would want to be treated in 19 verses, and he specifically tells people to help the poor and poo poo's the rich in a whopping 128 verses. 258 verses of pure socialism straight from the Bible - the words of God's son who sounds like some far-left liberal.

So where are all the verses where Jesus endorses the bullshit conservatives are trying to sell today? I can't find a single one! Fast forward to today -- in the holier than thou state of Mitt Romney's Utah, 40 Salt Lake City elementary school students had their lunches—which they'd already received from the cafeteria—seized and thrown in the trash in front of their classmates because their parents were behind on lunch payments. Can you imagine the psychological damage something like that does to a little kid? Is THAT what Jesus would do?

The modern conservative faith is the direct opposite of what the Judeo-Christian culture teaches: modern conservatives argue that everyone should take what they want, that we are all on our own, and that if you are rich it means that some Darwinian selection process allowed you to succeed and that you owe nothing to anyone else. Modern conservatives are far more faithful to Ayn Rand, who openly rejected Christianity because of its values of helping the poor and caring for others.

I give her credit for one thing: at least she was honest! Fundamentalist religious fanatics have gained unparalleled influence to the highest levels of our government, defiantly ignoring the fact that mixing religion and government violates the constitutional separation of church and state. We have to get these selfish, dangerous, evil people out of power so our country and this planet can progress. November is less than a year away now, so remember that when you vote.

========================================

I like Old Fart. He's about a year older than I am. He's an old hippy who plays the banjo, the guitar, and a keyboard instrument, and he lives near Hollywood in California.

Well, the Old Fart doesn't believe that Jesus actually existed, or if he did exist, he was not actually God. Also, there were no contemporary eyewitness accounts. Everything written about Jesus was decades and even a few centuries after Jesus had supposedly lived. There are no contemporary secular historical accounts of Jesus as their is of say, for example: Julius Caesar.

Yes, I have been doing my own research on that.

Anyway . . . . .

If Jesus existed, then he was far too liberal for today's ultraconservatives.

I'm surprised that Republicans don't reject Christianity, calling Jesus a left-wing pinko Commie liberal.

Ah yes! Contradictions, contradictions, and more contradictions.
